Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs administers Housing Choice Vouchers (Section 8) and connects low-income Texans to rental assistance, home repair programs, and community action agencies statewide. Contact your local Public Housing Authority or call 2-1-1 to apply for housing vouchers and emergency rental assistance. Waitlists may be long — apply as early as possible. Single fathers with dependent children may receive priority in some programs.
